October 1, 2020 Dear Parents and Guardians, It is the start of a new month and we are hoping for a fresh start coming back to school next Monday, October 5th. Remember, this was originally scheduled to be a staff development day, but we are planning to have school. We will have a typical late-start Monday, and doors will open at 9:35 am. We have not had any additional positive COVID cases since last Saturday. Our total cases sit at 18. We thank everyone for their patience during our remote learning time. Since our first case, the district has done the following to help mitigate another outbreak: An additional custodian has been hired. The desk dividers ordered this past summer have arrived and are placed on desks. The district will continue to require masks full time and give mask breaks. An update will be coming soon on activities for next week. Sincerely, David Gute, Superintendent
Seniors and senior families: October 1st = FAFSA application form is open. Visit https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa to apply.
Dear Parents and Guardians, We finally have approval from the Iowa Department of Education in regard to our request to continue in remote learning for this upcoming week. We will be in remote learning through Friday, October 2nd. Our campus will remain closed to the public through Sunday, October 4th. There will be no activities during this time. This includes the use of the weight room. We hope to return to school Monday, October 5th. October 5th was originally scheduled to be a no school day for teacher professional development. However, with the days out of the building, we feel it’s in our students’ best interest to have school on this date. The teachers will engage in professional development at the end of this week, so students will not have assignments from their teachers on Friday. We understand that many families plan ahead with appointments on these scheduled days off and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your support of Fremont-Mills CSD during these uncertain times. We hope to have everyone back in the building safely on October 5th. We will have a late-start Monday. Doors will open at 9:35 am. Sincerely, David Gute
This communication is to make you aware of 8 additional positive COVID-19 student and staff cases at Fremont-Mills School, over the past week. Fremont-Mills CSD has made a request to stay in remote learning for another week which is being reviewed by the Iowa Department of Public Health and the Iowa Department of Education. At this time, we have not heard back from the Department of Education, and a final decision cannot be made until we receive permission from them. We will update you with the school’s learning platform for next week as soon as a decision is made.

2020-2021 Preschool Program With careful consideration to COVID concerns, there are changes to our FM Preschool Programming for the 2020-2021 school year. We will NOT be offering a 3-year-old program at the beginning of the school year. Our 4-year-old program will only be offered two days a week (as opposed to 3 days during a traditional year). If COVID guidelines lighten up, we will reconsider the possibility of enrolling 3-year-olds later in the school year as well as offer extra time for our 4-year-olds. However, at this time, I do not know when that will happen. We will miss getting to know our 3-year-old students and families. They are a joy to have in preschool. We do not take this decision lightly, and we truly hope to be able to serve our threes later in the year if at all possible. Please look for additional information regarding registration in the next week or two. Home visits will not be conducted in August, but the teachers will schedule a time to meet with each enrolled preschool family at school prior to school starting. Four-year-olds will attend EITHER on a Monday/Tuesday OR a Thursday/Friday. This means the 4-year-olds will attend two days in a row each week. The hours of their school day will be 8:15am - 3:25pm. Preschool begins the week of September 7. Please direct any questions you have to the preschool teachers or Allyson Forney at email@example.com.

Hello Junior and Senior parents and students! If you have been reading the emails we have sent, and or Facebook posts, you are already aware that your student is required to complete a certain number of volleyball concession stand shifts to be able to attend post prom, at no charge. They will also be required to participate in three other fundraisers throughout the year (these three fundraisers do not include softball/baseball or volleyball concessions, those were separate requirements). This email includes information not only about the volleyball concession requirements but also about another fundraiser that will count towards one of those three fundraisers. So please read it carefully and if you have any questions please reach out to the Special Events Committee. Volleyball Concessions: Juniors and Seniors will be required to work TWO shifts during a home volleyball game. If they are not able to work any shifts they they are responsible for finding someone who can work for them, either a parent, grandparent, friend, sibling (at least junior high age), etc. Sign ups are ready and you may go to https://signup.com/go/vJMoPeJ to find those dates and times. Reminder, if these shifts are not filled by Juniors and Seniors (or their designee) we open them to kids going to Washington DC and we pay them for their shifts, which means that is money that is being taken away from what could be spent on Post Prom. Tabor Hare Scramble: Again, this is one of the "other" three fundraisers. Juniors and Seniors will have the chance to participate in other fundraisers as well so there is no requirement that they have to do this one, it is just one of their options to reach their requirement of THREE. Sign ups for this are also online, the Hare Scramble is Sept 8th, so there are several shifts on the 8th, but notice that there is one shift on the 7th to help take stuff out to the location and unload and set up. Again, if your student can't work but wants this to be one of their fundraisers they can have a parent, friend, etc. work for them. To sign up for a shift for this fundraiser you may go to https://signup.com/go/vJMoPeJ You will notice that there are not enough slots for every Junior and Senior to sign up for this fundraiser, so first come first serve. Also, note that while these sign ups are on the same website they are different links, so make sure you are signing up for the correct fundraiser. Again, if you have any questions please reach out to the Special Events Committee.
